As you may have read, “Democratic Socialist” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) released her “Green New Deal” last week to immediate praise and fanfare from the Left-wing establishment media, though it was instantly panned by critics — including some from her own party — over its many unrealistic objectives.
The plan has already received the endorsement of nearly 70 Democrats and a number of 2020 Democratic presidential contenders including Sens. Kamala Harris of California and Corey Booker of New Jersey. But many others have criticized it for its ridiculous proposals to fight so-called “climate change,” which includes proposals to completely move off all fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, gasoline, coal) and nuclear power (which is emissions-free) within a decade by building a high-speed rail system to replace all air travel and rebuilding every home and building in the country to ensure they are ‘energy efficient.’
However, one of the plan’s many ‘social justice’ provisions turned heads the most: A plan to ensure “economic security” even for people “unwilling to work.”
After an outline of the Green New Deal containing that provision was published online, Ocasio-Cortez had staffers remove it because it was being slammed by Republicans and Democrats alike as too foolish for words. She and her surrogates tried to claim that the initial post was some Republican conspiracy, but archived metadata shows without question the initial post did make such a claim.
Needless to say, however, before the plan was pulled offline, it generated a lot of attention — and support — from younger Americans, Campus Reform noted. So, curious as to just how young people felt about the Green New Deal, the website’s Cabot Phillips went to the University of Miami to get a feel for students’ views.
“I like that it’s progressive, that it’s gonna push the world forward,” one student noted. Another said, “Just from knowing who’s endorsed it and some other little things, it sounds great.”
Another student took a much more serious viewpoint of the Green New Deal, predicting “if we didn’t do that, we’re going to be killing ourselves” — a view reflective of how successful the climate hoaxers have been at convincing young Americans the world’s going to end thanks to SUVs, cattle farts, and life-sustaining carbon dioxide.
Said another student, “I view it favorably,” while yet another added, “It’s definitely a great idea.” (Related: The real Democrat agenda unveiled: Murder the babies, demolish all buildings, block the sun, kill free speech, ban all airplanes and declare a new UTOPIA.)
But is it? After Phillips began revealing portions of the Green New Deal and, specifically, what their lives would actually be like if it ever passed, students quickly became skeptical.
For instance, in addition to the “no more airplanes allowed” provision, the Green New Deal its packed “with specific provisions that urge a series of truly immense political, economic, and cultural changes to fundamentally remake the United States,” the National Review reported.
The plan calls for 10-year “national mobilization” to achieve “net zero” emissions but also ensure that there is “economic security for all people of the United States.” To get there we’ll have to ensure that 100 percent of our power demands come “through clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources.”
Other radical aspects of the plan include a complete overhaul of all transportation systems, free college for all, guaranteed wages, universal healthcare, guaranteed family/medical leave, and a host of other ‘freebies’ — all of which will cost trillions and trillions…and trillions…of dollars America will never have.
All of this was too much for the U of Miami students.
“It doesn’t sound like something I would be behind,” one student admitted after hearing all the details. Another added, “Sometimes you need to take extreme measures to save the environment, but I think this is too extreme.”
Said another: “I think that’s drastic.”
