BREAKING NEWS: The social justice warriors and the radical Left have completely lost their minds.
Earlier this week, it was reported that the British supermarket chain Waitrose will be selling gender-neutral Mother’s Day cards so that they can be more “transgender inclusive” and accepting of all lifestyles. Although cards that say “Happy Mother’s Day” will still be sold, customers will also be able to make a more politically correct choice with a card that reads, “Happy You Day.” That way, you can feel included even if you identify as a female, not just if you actually are a biological woman.
Other British retailers, including Scribbler, were quick to follow Waitrose’s lead, and are now offering Mother’s Day cards that say “Two mums are better than one” for same-sex couples, and another that reads, “Dad, thanks for being the most amazing mum.”
The changes come on the heels of calls by some trans activists to rename Mother’s Day entirely to make it more inclusive. Suggestions for new names include Guardian’s Day and Carer’s Day. Similarly, some schools in Britain are renaming the festival on their websites as Special Person’s Day or Mother’s and Special Person’s Day. (Related: The gender-neutral pronoun “Ze” that is now being pushed by universities across the country is identical to a communist China pronoun.)
To real women everywhere — that is, people who are biologically female — such a move is an insult, nothing more and nothing less. Mother’s Day is not just a holiday that we celebrate because it’s fun to get together with family; it’s a day we set aside to honor hard-working mothers across the world. In a way, these supermarket chains are taking that away from women, all so that they can say that they support “inclusiveness” and “acceptance of all.”
This push to build a gender-neutral world isn’t unique to the UK, however. Right here in the United States, liberals and social justice warriors alike are working tirelessly to do away with the traditional “he/she” pronouns in the interest of bringing about more “tolerance” and “inclusiveness.”
Earlier this year, for instance, a New York City elementary school canceled a father-daughter dance due to concerns that the event wouldn’t be in compliance with the Department of Education’s Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Student Guidelines, which require school events to be “gender inclusive.” (Related: Don’t say “man” on campus because biological language is now apparently offensive.)
“Until we understand what we are legally permitted to do, we need to table this event,” wrote PTA president Toni Bennett on a private school-parents Facebook page. As you probably could have guessed, many parents were outraged.
“They’re trying to take away everything that everybody grew up on and has come to know and I don’t think it’s fair or right,” argued father Matthew West, whose two young daughters go to the school. “They should leave it the way it was – father-daughter, mother-son.” West added that this culture of political correctness is making parents afraid to speak out: “I hate it… people are just becoming too scared to talk,” he said.
“All this gender crap needs to just stop,” argued mom Akaia Cameron, adding that her daughter had a “great time” when she attended the dance with her father the previous year.
Even Donald Trump Jr. commented on the cancellation of the father-daughter dance, writing on Twitter: “If this doesn’t convince you that the PC/SJW movement has lots [sic] their minds I don’t know what will. This nonsense really needs to stop.”
The President’s son is right – this politically correct gender-neutral movement has gotten out of hand. Transgenders make up an extremely small percentage of the entire United States population, and the idea that we need to change everything from the way we speak to the names of holidays just to cater to them is absurd.
What the liberals and the social justice warriors simply don’t understand is that no matter how hard they try, they will never be able to make society one hundred percent inclusive. There will always be some level of inequality, there will always be some people that are left out, and there will always be imperfection. To believe otherwise is both incredibly naïve and foolish.
